A cache is a concealed, pre-positioned store of equipment, supplies, or intelligence placed for later retrieval. Unlike a dead drop — which is an exchange between two parties — a cache is placed by one operative and recovered by the same (or a designated) operative later. There is no second party present.
Caches solve a core problem: you can't carry everything, and you can't risk a live exchange every time. A cache lets you:
Access gear without carrying it through checkpoints
Store intel packages for pickup mid-operation
